EXPERIENCE APRCMENTORSHIP
Lori Devillez Founder of APRC
“We want to teach her how to get herself back on track. We don’t want her to be stuck in the cycle of poverty by returning and relying on our supplies. So I believe in the mentorship program because it will enable our clients to move to a very successful lifestyle.”
ABOUT US
Our Background
The Austin Pregnancy Resource Center has a lot of clients; 80% of which are Returning Mothers. These women are mothers that are continuously having unplanned pregnancies and using the APRC as a crutch for their finances as well as necessities. While the function of the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center is to help mothers with unplanned pregnancies, another goal they have is to help the women get back on their feet and provide for themselves and their family. This shows responsibility and resiliency on the mother’s part, and the more mothers begin to provide for themselves the better the child will grow up knowing that they are safe and provided for.
We are Team G.O.A.L from the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, and we are partnering with the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center to assist in training the volunteer mentors in the Returning Mother Mentorship Program. Our project is to supply the training mentors with a resource guide full of relevant knowledge that is easily accessible and will help the mother utilize the resources around her while also showing her how to become increasingly independent.
We also have a Spanish Website for spanish speakers.
